Benefact Trust. New name, new brand, same ethos

Published: 08 March 2022
By now, you will have seen our new name, Benefact Trust, along with our new brand. So, has everything changed?

The short answer is no, everything hasn’t changed. Benefact Trust is still built on the ethos of giving back and making a positive and lasting difference to people’s lives, with the same expert, dedicated teams behind our varied work.

The changes have come about because we want to communicate that our work is more far reaching than our old name suggests. Of course, the church remains at the root of our giving, but our social impact is wider. It’s about more than supporting the repair, restoration, protection, improvement and growth of places of Christian worship. Benefact Trust is here to help change lives and empower communities throughout the UK and Ireland for the long term.

So, the time has come to change our name and broaden the perception of what we do and what we can achieve with our beneficiaries.

Here to make a lasting impact

Benefact Trust exists to provide grant funding to help communities thrive, tackling social issues from homelessness and poverty, to climate change and cultural cohesion.

The different challenges people all over the UK and Ireland face can seem tough and overwhelming. But with the help of our grants, we believe we can make a lasting impact so that people, places and communities have renewed opportunities to flourish.

It’s more than just funding

Since 1972, we’ve awarded over £235m in grants to churches, Christian charities and communities. We’ve helped to kick start initiatives and support charitable projects, with our team of experienced Grants Officers always on hand to offer their advice and guidance. What’s more, our funding often encourages other organisations to get involved, doing more to achieve long-term, sustainable change.

From helping vulnerable young people to improve their self-esteem and wellbeing at a social care farm in West Sussex, to making St Paul’s in Winchester fully accessible for all ages and abilities, we’re involved in achieving diverse and transformational change. You can learn more about the impact we have on communities and projects in our grant examples.
