With the support of a Benefact Trust grant, Daughters of Charity Services is recruiting a Research and Policy Officer. The new post comes as the charity embarks upon its next phase of organisational development, through which it seeks to find new ways of serving those in greatest need through both developing new initiatives and speaking out against structural injustice.
Daughters of Charity Services operates as a family of projects across Britain, responding practically to a wide range of social issues. The charity recognises the importance of continuously evaluating the greatest needs across society, and, in turn, the development of new initiatives to meet such demands. The Research and Policy Officer will play a key role in helping to identify potential new support services, in accordance with the charity’s core mission.
Commenting on the award, CEO of Daughters of Charity Services, Mark Choonara, says the charity is delighted to receive this support from Benefact Trust:
“Through this grant from Benefact Trust we will be better able to understand new and emerging needs across society, and to support our family of charities to serve those in greatest need. The creation of this post will also enable us to more effectively speak out alongside and on behalf of those experiencing poverty.”
Chloe Ewen, Grants Officer for Benefact Trust, said: “Daughters of Charity Services shares our values in responding to the biggest issues in today’s society, through its family of varied and impactful projects. We’re delighted that our grant will help the organisation to continue to develop and support those most in need through the work of the new Research and Policy Officer.”
Established projects within the Daughters of Charity Services family span a wide range of services, from working with Roma women and families in Glasgow to providing homecare to older people living alone in Westminster. The Research and Policy Officer will also help to inform the charity’s campaigns to challenge structural injustice with solid evidence-based analysis and solutions, through undertaking targeted research and evaluation across the group.
